From 12.01am on Saturday, 28 August 2021, new requirements to register your travel will come into force affecting different types of movement across New South Wales.
Travel registration will be valid for a maximum of 14 days, after which time persons will need to reapply.
Authorised workers living in a local government area (LGA) of concern who need to leave their LGA, as well as workers who need to enter a LGA of concern for work will now require a ‘workers permit’ in order to move in and out of the LGA of concern.
Permits will also be required for workers who are from a non-LGA of concern who need to travel more than 50km outside of Greater Sydney for work.
People will also be required to register their travel in the following circumstances:
- If they are permanently moving to a new residence outside of Greater Sydney
- If they are inspecting a property to live in
- If they are moving between residences, including travelling to a second home for work or to undertake urgent maintenance, repairs, or to attend to animal welfare.
It is a requirement to carry your travel registration and supporting documents with you at all time and to provide these to police if requested.
To check your travel locations to confirm whether you need to register you can enter the addresses in the travel registration address checker.
