The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has sued the trustee of Cbus alleging that it has failed to act efficiently, honestly and fairly in the handling of Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) and Death benefit insurance claims for over 10,000 members.

The ASIC has stated that delay in processing claims is a significant and widespread problem in the industry and has placed other superannuation funds on notice.
